- Tell us the story of one of your early memories of the internet from your childhood. Be as specific as you can about what you did online (MySpace? LimeWire? AIM? Neopets?) as well your impressions, reactions and the context surrounding your internet use. Was it at a friend's house? With your family? At school? When I was living in Arkansas, around the age of 8, my family had an desktop computer, I want to say that it was an HP desktop and I mainly used it for playing games online. I specifically remember a Samurai Jack game called, Code of the Samurai, that I played, along with other Cartoon Network games. I later gravitated towards addictinggames.com which had a plethora of games to choose from, one of my favorites was Interactive Buddy, where you basically had a whole arsenal of weapons to mess with this blob person. There was also Cannon Kitty, where you launched a cat out of a cannon and it flew through the air and you were trying to get the longest distance. On the ground there were spikes, venus fly traps and other obstacles that tried to stop you, but there was also tnt, balloons and other things to boost you back up and help you go further. I have definitely spent some of my school time in middle school procrastinating by visiting that site and it brought me much joy. AIM became a thing in 5th grade when I moved to North Carolina from the friends that I met in class and that became a easy way for us all to make plans and meet up which I found extremely convenient. Nowadays my gaming is pretty much console or mobile but after writing this I think I need to go play Interactive Buddy again, excuse me.
