Pickle Rick is from a popular TV show, called Rick and Morty. In the episode, Rick, a time-traveling, inter-dimensional scientist turns himself into a pickle to avoid going to family therapy. His adventure gets derailed and he finds himself as a badass, Rambo-like pickle, fighting off enemies. The Rick and Morty community has a history of absurd fandom, and they've taken pickle rick to almost every level, like they have with so many other Rick and Morty meme's, quotes, and photo's.
People have turned this meme into many things, simply putting Rick's face on something, and calling it "_____ Rick". This is an example of media convergence, giving the meme a different meaning that still relates to the original meme, but giving it a new context.
